Feature
Overtime & double time, automatic
Every shift is evaluated against California's daily and weekly overtime rules the moment it's clocked out — no spreadsheets, no end-of-period reconciliation.
What's calculated on every shift
- Daily overtime (1.5×) on hours worked beyond 8 in a single workday, up to 12.
- Daily double time (2×) on hours worked beyond 12 in a single workday.
- Weekly overtime (1.5×) on hours that exceed 40 in the workweek — calculated only on hours not already paid at a daily overtime or double-time rate, so nothing is ever double-counted.
- 7th-consecutive-day premium — if an employee works all 7 days of the workweek, the first 8 hours on that 7th day are paid at 1.5×, and anything beyond 8 hours is paid at 2×.
How it works
The workweek runs Sunday through Saturday. As punches come in from the kiosk or are entered manually, each day's hours are evaluated independently for daily overtime and double time, then the week's regular hours are checked against the 40-hour weekly threshold. The 7th-consecutive-day rule only applies when every single day of that workweek was actually worked — a day off anywhere in the week means the standard daily/weekly rules apply instead.
Every calculation is recorded against the shift it came from, so a manager reviewing a pay period can see exactly which rule produced which dollar amount — not just a final total.
